1. What is After Dark Scream Park?

After Dark Scream Park is Wales’ premier Halloween event, featuring immersive scare mazes, live entertainment, food, bars, and more. Designed for thrill-seekers and horror fans, it promises a night you’ll never forget!

 

2. Where is the event located?

The event will take place in Merthyr Tydfil. The exact location will be revealed soon! Keep an eye on our website and social media for updates.

 

3. What are the event dates and times?

We run on select nights in October. Gates open at 5:30PM, and last entry to the mazes is at 10:30PM. Full date listings can be found on our Tickets page.

 

4. Is there an age restriction?

Our event is recommended for ages 13+. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Please note: our scare mazes are intense and not suitable for young children.

 

5. Are the mazes really scary?

Yes! Our mazes are designed to be truly terrifying, using live actors, special effects, and immersive sets. If you’re easily frightened or have a heart condition, please use your discretion.

 

6. Can I buy tickets at the door?

We strongly recommend booking online in advance as popular nights may sell out. Limited tickets may be available on the night, but entry cannot be guaranteed.

 

7. Will there be food and drink available?

Yes! We have a selection of food vendors, bars, and refreshments available throughout the park.

 

8. Is there parking on site?

Yes, there is parking available. Full details will be provided when the location is announced. Please follow signage and staff directions on arrival.

 

9. What should I wear?

Dress for the weather and wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes. The event is outdoors and the mazes may include uneven ground, darkness, and special effects.

 

10. Can I dress up in costume?

Costumes are encouraged, but please do not wear masks or bring props that could be mistaken for real weapons. Our actors will be in full costume, come ready for a fright!

 

11. Are the mazes accessible for people with disabilities?

We strive to make our event as accessible as possible, but some mazes may include uneven terrain, darkness, or narrow spaces. Please contact us in advance to discuss your requirements.

 

12. Will the actors touch me?

In most of our mazes, actors will not intentionally touch you. However, in Backwoods Abattoir, this experience is different: actors will make safe, brief physical contact to intensify the fear factor.

 

Don’t worry - this will be clearly explained to you by the maze host before you enter, and you’ll have the chance to ask questions or opt out if you feel uncomfortable.

 

All physical contact follows strict safety guidelines and our scare actors are specially trained to ensure your experience is thrilling but safe at all times.If you have any concerns, please speak to a staff member before entering Backwoods Abattoir.

 

13. Can I leave a maze if I get too scared?

Yes - if you need to exit, let a member of staff know and they will assist you. Remember, it’s all in good (frightening!) fun.

 

14. What if it rains?

The event will go ahead in most weather conditions, so please dress appropriately. In the unlikely event of severe weather, check our website or social media for updates.

 

15. I have a medical condition - can I still attend?

Our event uses strobe lighting, loud noises, smoke, and other effects. If you have concerns about your health, please consult your doctor first. If you require assistance, please contact us in advance.

 

16. Can I get a refund if I can’t make it?

Tickets are non-refundable except in the case of event cancellation. Please see our Terms & Conditions for full details.

Additional Safety & Experience Questions

 

18. Is Backwoods Abattoir suitable for everyone?

Backwoods Abattoir is our most extreme and disturbing attraction, featuring intense scares, mature themes, and physical contact from actors. It is not suitable for anyone under 16, those who are pregnant, have certain medical conditions, or are sensitive to graphic horror. Please consider your personal limits before entering and speak to staff if you’re unsure.

 

19. Can I opt out of Backwoods Abattoir or skip certain mazes?

Absolutely! Entry to each maze is optional. If you feel Backwoods Abattoir or any other attraction is too intense, you can skip it and still enjoy the rest of the event.

 

20. What does “physical contact” mean in Backwoods Abattoir?

In Backwoods Abattoir, actors may make brief, controlled contact such as tapping your shoulder or gently guiding you. They are highly trained and follow strict safety protocols. No aggressive or inappropriate contact will occur. If you have concerns, please ask the maze host before entering.

 

21. Are there strobe lights, loud noises, or special effects?

Yes. Our mazes use strobe lighting, fog, loud noises, and other special effects. If you are sensitive to these, please take precautions or speak to a staff member before entering.

 

22. Can I bring my phone or flashlight into the mazes?

No photography or filming is allowed inside the mazes, and flashlights are not permitted as they can spoil the experience for others. Phones must be kept in your pocket or bag.

 

23. What happens if I lose something inside a maze?

Please inform a staff member immediately. For safety reasons, lost property can only be retrieved after mazes close for the night.

 

24. Can I attend if I am pregnant or have epilepsy?

We do not recommend our attractions for those who are pregnant, have epilepsy, or certain medical conditions due to the intense nature of our mazes and the use of special effects. Please consult your doctor and speak to us if you need advice.

 

25. Can I come in a group or book for a party?

Yes! Groups are welcome. For large group bookings or parties, please contact us in advance to discuss options and any group discounts.

 

26. Is alcohol allowed?

Alcohol will be available for purchase at the event, but anyone who appears intoxicated or under the influence will be refused entry to the mazes for safety reasons.

 

27. Is smoking or vaping allowed?

Smoking and vaping are only permitted in designated areas outside the mazes.

 

28. Will there be security on site?

Yes - your safety is our top priority. Security personnel and dog handlers will be on site throughout the event to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment.

 

29. Is there a bag search policy?

Yes. For the safety of all guests and staff, all bags will be searched upon entry by our security team. Please allow extra time for this process and avoid bringing unnecessary items.

 

30. Can I work or volunteer at After Dark Scream Park?

31. Can I re-enter the event if I leave?
